How does the scanner work?

The scanner uses a client-side approach for manual scans. It fetches your sitemap.xml to discover pages, then uses JavaScript fetch() to load each page and check its links. Internal links are checked directly; external links are proxied through a server-side endpoint for CORS compatibility.

Will scanning slow down my site?

Manual scans are performed in the browser with configurable concurrency and delay settings. They do not affect your site's performance for other visitors. Scheduled (cron) scans run server-side with polite delays between requests.

What happens to my data if I uninstall?

By default, your data is preserved when you uninstall. You can change this in Settings by toggling "Keep Data on Uninstall" off.

What is MCP?

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is a standard that allows AI assistants to interact with external tools and data sources. When enabled, AI tools like Claude can use KnowSite Doctor to scan your site and fix broken links.
